Floyd Mayweather Jr. still afraid of Pacquiao?

After Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated Canelo Alvarez via unanimous decision last September 15, 2013 opened up and answered some questions.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still not interested fighting Manny Pacquiao. And it's clear that Floyd still has fear of getting defeated.

“I want to take my promotion to another level. I am not thinking about Manny Pacquiao,”

Many of the boxing fans around the world still criticize Floyd Mayweather Jr. ford ducking Pacquiao. Floyd Mayweather Jr. also admitted that he handpicked his opponents.

Before the fight against Canelo Alvarez Floyd said during the conference together with the reporters.

"Sometimes they say, 'Well, Floyd Mayweather's opponents was handpicked.' That's a good thing. I commend my team ... when I sit back and I think about my career, I say 'you know what? I had a cool career. I didn't take any punishment"

So Floyd Mayweather Jr. was avoiding potential fighters that has the ability and skills to defeat him. Or worse fighters that could destroy his boxing career one of them is Manny Pacquiao.

As a boxing fans athlete's like Floyd don't earn my respect. And might as well not be considered as one of the best boxers of all time. If you love your fans and the sport then do it for the fans and not for fame and money.

Shawn Kemp vs Blake Griffin

I have read contents and articles regarding Shawn Kemp compared to Blake Griffin. And this hobbled my mind since both of them are quite spectacular to watch.

Well as far as I have witnessed on both players playing style. Shawn Kemp shouldn't be compared to Blake Griffin. Kemp was more of an explosive dunker. Shawn "The Reignman" Kemp would go airborne the moment Gary Payton would toss that ball.

And as a spectator you don't wanna blink when the ball is up in the air. Since Shawn Kemp would get that ball and throw it down on the ring with tenacity. Shawn Kemp was also a dominant offensive and defensive player.

Blake can dunk yes no doubt. He can finish his dunks tremendously and with power. But Shawn Kemp it's totally different. Kemp would finish it with authority over his defenders.

Kemp plays well with his team at the same time providing that explosiveness for both offense and defense. But Kemp's edge over Blake Griffin was his relentless style. Kemp would get those offensive rebounds and punch it hard to score.

Blake Griffin is also a good dunker but you can see the gap between the two. Blake has a lot to develop when it comes to defense. Griffin can also throw that tomahawk dunk with style. But when you see Kemp do it it's just totally different.

Shawn Kemp also also ridiculous vertical leap. Kemp also uses his leaping ability to block and defy shots from others. Or the other way around Kemp would use it in grabbing offensive rebounds.
Shawn Kemp was a more dynamic player since he was quicker.

Shawn Kemp's ability to throw those power dunks was just unbelievable. When you see Blake Griffin dunking on people and you are amazed. So much more if you try watching Shawn Kemp dunking in your face with defenders.

And this two athlete's shouldn't even be compared. When you try to differentiate both of them during their prime. I would say Shawn Kemp would be the one dominating.

And also Seattle Supersonics was the original lob city.

PBA Brawl San Mig Coffee vs Global Port

The game between San Mig Coffee Mixers and Global Port turned to fist fight. With 8:11 mins remaining in the 3rd quarter troubled erupted on both teams. Mark Pingris got into a brawl with Kelly Nabong.

Full video of the fight below:

Here are some of the decisions that the committee came up with.

Marvin Hayes(#12) - Foul, Technical Foul
Joe Devance(#38) - Technical Foul for second motion
Marc Pingris(#15) - Out for Fighting
Kelly Nabong(#23) - Out for Fighting

Seriously it was Joe Devance who made the entire scenario worse. He shoved and pushed Marvin Hayes and that triggered the riot.

But this calls bestowed were effective on that game. While following more sanctions will follow after the officials will review the entire brawl.

I hope players will get the sanctions they deserve for causing all these havoc. And also the officials would review it thoroughly.

UFC 164 Results: Meet the new lightweight champ Pettis!

Anthony Pettis vs Ben Henderson

Round 1
Both fighters exchanged blows and trade punches. Ben Henderson would be very aggressive to apply pressure to Anthony Pettis as the challenger. Ben would use his techniques like kicking on the calf muscle and pressing Pettis on the cage.

But Anthony Pettis would try to dictate this match. As Pettis would start to connect with crips leg kicks to the body. Pettis would continue hitting Henderson and would start to gain momentum. The moment both fighters would collide in the ground and Henderson on top.

Anthony Pettis would smoothly secure a tight arm bar. Ben Henderson would try to defend and find a way out of it. The fight would be all over as Ben Henderson would say TAPPOUT verbally. The referee would soon interfere and would declare Anthony Pettis as the winner via submission.

REACTION POINTS OF VIEW TO THE FIGHT

The moment the fight would start both fighters would go on a war right away. Ben Henderson as the defending champion would be very aggressive. But Anthony Pettis would not feel any pressure from him as he would show confidence.

Technically Anthony Pettis has the advantage on this match. Based on his striking and the way he hits Henderson. Those leg kicks that Pettis made were purely nasty and the timing was just perfect. Plus he was able to defend his ground and then sneak all the way for an arm bar.

Frank Mir vs Josh Barnett

Round 1
Both fighters would collide immediately and start to trade punches. But Frank Mir would land more significant punches. Frank Mir continues to hit good clean shots inside while they are engaged in a clinch. But as soon as Barnett would gain momentum he would then start to connect his uppercuts and knee strikes

Josh Burning trying to wear down Frank and hits a big elbow to the head. And followed up with a knee to the body. As both fighters are still in clinched Barnett would continue his offense with uppercuts and knees to the body.

And then Barnett would hit a nasty elbow again. Followed by a knee to the head that would hurt Frank Mir. And then the referee would immediately stop the fight declaring Josh Barnett as the winner via TKO.

REACTION AND POINTS OF VIEW

It was clear the Josh Barnett connected a vicious knee on Frank Mir. But in my own opinion the referee stopped the fight to early. Frank Mir stood immediately and to his consent the fight was over. Based on the replay Frank Mir was rocked but he quickly recovered from it.

The referee did a bad call on this one since it was just too early for the fight to be stopped. Frank Mir could not even believe the moment he knew the fight was over. Frank Mir experienced this kind of situation before.

The fight against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira was the same scenario. Frank Mir got hurt badly but was able to recover after seconds and then broke Noggueira's arm via Kimura.

This was really a bad call for the referee to stop the fight to early.

Brandon Vera vs Ben Rothwell

Round 1
Brandon Vera was doing great doing all sorts kind of combinations. As he eludes and evades  the counter attacks of Ben Rothwell. Vera connected with a clean straight punch and also landed a picture perfect leg kick to the body of Rothwell. Brandon Vera also made a good punch to the jaw but in the late seconds he got accidentally kicked below the belt.

Round 2
When the round started both fighters exchange blows. Ben Rothwell would be aggressive in this round as he continues to attack Vera. But Brandon Vera would also start to hit some counter attacks.
Brandon Vera would use his knees to neutralize Rothwell. And would also mix his attacks by hitting head kicks and elbows.

Round 3
Ben Rothwell would open up this round connecting a good body kick to Vera. Ben Rothwell would somehow unleash more aggression on Brandon Vera. And this time Ben would berserk all his attacks. Ben would fury a series of punches and kicks combined with knees. Uppercuts would start to connect and then another knee that would hurt Vera badly. The referee noticed that Vera could not defend himself anymore and stopped the fight.

REACTION AND POINT OF VIEW TO THE FIGHT
Brandon Vera did an excellent job on the first 2 rounds. He was attacking with accuracy and having patience with his offensive arsenal. On the other hand Ben was just relentless and a though opponent for Vera.

Ben would absorb all Vera's attack and would keep coming forward and be more aggressive. Vera was more quick and had speed advantage against Rothwell. But the moment Rothwell would clinch and hit Vera. Ben would hit him as hard as he can that would hurt Vera.

Ben did a great job on the final round which he went it all out. He just spread his attacks and from there Ben would outrage Vera and knocked him out.

Anderson Silva: Who is Floyd Mayweather?

Anderson "The Spider" Silva was clear on his joke that he was disrespecting the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"Who is this guy? Mayweather what?" Silva said this when answering a question from Sway Calloway .

This guy is, uh, Smurfy? Is he a Smurf?" Silva continued with another joke.
"I don't know this guy,"

Anderson Silva kept adding more jokes as the conversation went on. And Silva said and direct statement that he doesn't respect Floyd.

"I don't need to talk too much because the guy don't respect me…Sorry, I don't respect Mayweather."

This is very clear that Silva was offended by Mayweather for not respecting him. And who else would not be when you are on Silva's side. Floyd had been talking trash taking to other athlete's from Pacquiao and now to Silva.

It's clear also that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a person who talks a lot and likes to disrespect other athlete's. This time it's on Silva but it would be the person you don't want to piss off with. Silva was like trolling on his answers and showing that not a bit of respect on Floyd.

Anderson Silva is also a trash talker but he respects most of his opponents. He maybe cocky inside the octagon and sometimes being overconfident. But when it comes to respecting others and his opponents He shows a down to earth approach.

The one that made me LOL! was the PAPA SMURF thing. I didn't realize Silva was a joker for saying that punchline. I couldn't imagine the reaction of Calloway in fact it was damn priceless.

If both of this fighters will fight and collide inside the ring. I am pretty sure Silva would come out as the victorious one. Boxing is a totally different sport when it comes to MMA and Floyd would end up battered and beaten down.

Is Manny Pacquiao really Broke?

A lot of rumors out their are going viral that the former pound for pound champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao is broke. Issues like these are now everywhere from media to social networking sites. Now this bankruptcy issue that Pacquiao is facing is really not gonna help him on his next fight with Rios.

Instead of hyping and promoting his next game vs Brandon Rios Pacquiao is facing a different media exposure. A close friend triggered this issue when Rex "Wakee" Salud said that Pacquiao's money was already gone.

Cebuano:"Di lang kay nahurothurot, hurot gyud! "
English: He did not just lose his money, he lost all of it

And then Rex Wakee Salud denied after media questioned him and this was his new statement:

Tagalog: Wala akong sinabi na ganun. Pinalaki lang nung writer
English: I didn’t say anything like that. The writer merely exaggerated it

Tagalog: Ang sabi ko lang … baka medyo gipit. Kasi isang taon nang walang laban, nanibago yung lifestyle. Pero hindi ko sinabi na bangkarote na.
English: maybe he's a bit short. Because he hasn’t fought for a year now, he changed his lifestyle. But I didn’t say he's bankrupt

If you want to promote a fight for a friend this is not the right way. This would seemingly lost someone's interest to fight. And also the fans would think another hidden agenda since people would generally say. A MUST WIN FOR PACQUIAO BECAUSE HE NEEDS MONEY. or on the other hand "He is fighting for the money and not for the sport anymore".

These are just some common perspective that people would conclude the moment Pacquiao and Rios would collide. With all due respect to Pacquiao he is a great and kind person who helps a lot to his countrymen.

I saw a video that Pacquiao gave some of his money to their neighbors. He also donated some of his money from calamity victims without hesitation.

Here are some of them that are even captured by the news and media networks:

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/241701/pacquiao-donates-p2-75-m-of-own-money-for-sarangani-housing-project
http://global.christianpost.com/news/manny-pacquiao-uses-prize-money-from-bradley-bout-to-help-filipino-flood-victims-76846/

In my points of view I don't really agree that Manny is broke. I know that his wife Jinkee Pacquiao knows how to handle and take care their properties including Pacquiao's money.

Allen Iverson Officially Retires

The former Nba MVP(2001) Allen "The Answer" Iverson officially retires as a professional basketball player. One of the most exciting players to ever played in the Nba formally retires. Allen Iverson last played was 2010 under his first team the Philadelphia Sixers.

After a 1 season deal Iverson he was not able to get a new contract. And on 2010-2011 Iverson played in Besiktas Turkey and signed a $4 million deal.

One of the most best ankle breakers to ever played would be missed. He was such a good ball handler and a blitz of a second he could go coast to coast. Known for his crossover signature moves and lightning fast movements. Allen Iverson captured the hearts of many Nba fans during his prime days.

You could just imagine how he crossover those opponents leaving them on the floor. Or throw those fancy passes to his teammates for an ally-oop. This makes the crowd go crazy and wild the moment Iverson would try to take over the game.

The best part of him was that he has his own signature moves. That killer crossover that's simply ridiculous to guard and tame. Plus he is very competitive and determined to win no matter how big his enemies are. He will just try to attack the basket and get fouls to make contact.

That's why Iverson are one of the few players in the NBA to suffer a lot of injuries during his
professional career.

I thought Allen Iverson would have another great comeback maybe for just 1 season or 2. But lately he was in sort of financial problems and issues. So the fans were really expecting for him to comeback but it was just all false hyped. And I hope he will be a future hall of famer.

Some of the awards that Iverson achieved during his professional career:
  • NBA Rookie of the year(1997)
  • NBA All Rookie First Team(1997)
  • 11 NBA All Star(2000-2010)
  • 2x NBA All Star MVP(2001,2005)
  • 4x NBA Scoring Champion(1999, 2001,2002,2005)
  • 3x NBA Steal Leader(2001-2003)
  • 3x NBA First Team(1999,2001,2005)
  • 3x NBA Second Team(2000,2002,2003)
  • NBA All Third Team(2006)
  • NBA Most Valuable Player(2001)
TEAMS PLAYED
  • 1996-2006 = Philadelphia 76ers

No Pain No Spain

At the moment this is the motto for the Smart Gilas Philippine mens basketball team. No Pain No Spain fits well to describe what the team achieved. It was not just a win that the team achieved it was more of a redemption.

The silver prize that felt like gold to best describe the award. For the team winning the match against long rival South Korea was enough to suffice the hunger for vengeance. Since it's been years that the team always comes up short the moment this two teams collide.

Each game would be as exciting and would have a dramatic ending. The Philippine team took and embrace all the pain during that game. They gave all that they have despite having an undersize lineup. All they have was the heart of a relentless competitor who would win it all.

The moment Gilas took the win from South Korea it secured the team a guaranteed spot for the FIBA tournament to be held in Spain in 2014. All the suffering that the team had experienced paid off after earning a chance to play and compete with other top caliber basketball teams around the world.

This would include the Powerhouse USA team and other countries like Argentina, Russia, France, Germany and many more. For the Philippine team they have a year to prepare and a year to practice. And by that moment I hope the team will be at there best.

So see you in Spain Gilas :)

Chael Sonnen Accepts Vitor Belfort's call

A lot of UFC fighters are calling out Chael Sonnen's name challenging him after an impressive win from a former light heavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Lyoto Machida, Phil Davis, Vitor Belfort are some of the few yet interesting fighters that's challenging Sonnen.

And Chael Sonnen accepted the challenge from Vitor Belfort which he replied with this response.

"I'm in, if Vitor said my name first, I'm in. That's all you have to do is say my name, you do not have to ask me twice. I'm like Beyonce's child—say my name, say my name."

I am sure a lot of fans would be happy and would be excited on the pick that Chael made. Since this would be another fight that the world would love to see. But of course a lot of haters also will criticize this match and would say something debatable.

As a fan of UFC and MMA even boxing I truly respect how Chael Sonnen handle his career. Just say who he will face any time and any where. Rest assure Chael would be ready for it and would prepare to his fullest determination in order to win.

If I was Dana White I would also choose Sonnen vs Belfort. It's a different match compared to Sonnen vs Machida or worse Sonnen vs Davis. This would bring and encourage more fans since both fighters are really eager to collide to any terms and conditioned offered just for the love of the sport.

After Chael Sonnen's win over Mauricio "Shogun" Rua he deserves to be called the "MILLION DOLLAR MAN" at the moment. and not Tito Ortiz whose claiming to be a huge hype on belator and not on UFC.

Sonnen's  a great fighter but what adds to his credentials is that he doesn't pick random enemies. He accepts challenge from top caliber mma fighters. And athlete's like him should be respected because this is a sport and not an entertainment show of acting.

Chael Sonnen Submits Mauricio Shogun Rua

Chael Sonnen vs Mauricio Shogun Rua

Chael Sonnen defeats Mauricio Shogun Rua via submission(guillotine choke) late in the first round. As Sonnen established his dominance over the former light heavyweight champion Shogun Rua.

Round 1

Chael Sonnen immediately attempted a take down and was successful on it. As Sonnen was starting to establish himself Shogun Rua tried to sneak and switched their positions. Now this time Sonnen was on the ground as Rua successfully completed his own take down.

But not for long when Sonnen was able to control the phase and was on top again on Shogun Rua. Sonnen began to dominate and implement his ground and pound game. Sonnen grind and kept the fight on the ground as he uses his wrestling skills to his advantage.

As Sonnen continues to dictate the ground game while controlling the fight. Then Sonnen was able to perform a tight guillotine choke that Rua wasn't able to defend it. The choke was so tight that Rua's attempt to break free failed.

Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight after Mauricio Shogun Rua tapped out and declared Sonnen as the winner of the fight.

Recation of the match

Sonnen did just right on this fight since he knows his bread and butter would be the wrestling field. Added with his great cardio and good ground and pound skills. If Sonnen didn't bring the fight on the ground it would have been a different story or result.

We all know how Mauricio Shogun Rua is good on his strikings and on stand up matches. Shogun has that knockout power from his punches and kicks. So what Sonnen's game plan was really impressive that's why he got this win.

Alistair Overeem vs Travis Browne

Round 1
Alistair Overeem started the first round with aggressiveness. As Alistair unleashed his vicious punches and was able to grab Travis then attempted a knee on him.  But in return Travis responded with a flying knee but Alistair was able to defend it.

Travis throw a swing punch that made him off his balance. Alistair then immediately approach and attempted a guillotine choke. Travis was able to break free from the choke but Alistair throw a vicious knee to the body. This caused Travis to kneel down while Alistair capitalized on the situation as Alistair continues to strike his punches.

Alistair Continues to fury his punches mixed with a knee to the body. As Travis was hanging on and trying to get outlast the berserk attack of Alistair. With a series of punches and knees connecting to the head of Travis  the referee didn't step up to stop the fight.

Alistair tried to clinch Travis after landing several knees to the body. But this time it was Travis time to do some payback. Travis realized Alistair was slowing down and started to wear out.

Both fighters were exhausted and were seemingly exchanging one two punches. While Travis would try to hit Alistair with those head kicks.

Travis continues to do those head kicks which would soon start to land on Alistair. Travis would hit Alistair in the chin that would cause a serious damage. And as soon as Alistair would fall on the canvass Travis would immediately hit Alistair with hammer fist.  The referee would stop Travis and would declare him the winner via TKO.

Reaction to the Match

When I watched this fight I was like watching the same match between Alistair vs Big Foot Silva. I am glad that the referee didn't stop the fight early. Since Travis was still in the game the moment Alistair was trying to finish the match.

Kudos to Travis for hanging and outlasting the storm that was brought by Alistair. And also made a great recovery and immediately took matters in the same round.

For Alistair he really needs to develop another dimension of his game. Probably some defense and head movements or a ground and pound game. He also needs composure and patience when it comes to finishing his opponents.

Phil Davis doesn't want a rematch from Lyoto Machida

I came across and read this funny statement from Phil Davis that he doesn't want a rematch from Lyoto Machida. On their last fight Phil Davis won via unanimous decision and shocked the home crowed including Lyoto Machida last UFC 163.

Machida was winning all 3 rounds but when the fight went to the distance and in the hands of the judges Phil Davis was the winner. And now Davis is not interested in having a rematch with Machida which is really a wrong move for him.

Instead of accepting the rematch and prove to his fans and to the UFC that he is better than Lyoto. He refused the offer instead made this statement.

I have 12 wins, 11 wins (Davis’ record is 12-1 with 1 no contest), all those guys want rematches,” Davis said on Monday’s MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. “You’re not the first person who wants a rematch. You fight every fight like this. You fight close fights. Name one fight that he didn’t finish where he beat the crap out of somebody.”

“You live by that sword, you die by that sword,” said Davis. “When you habitually leave it to the judges, that strategy will fail you. I can’t say it any other way.”

Seriously how in the world did Phil Davis won that last fight between him and Machida. It was clear on the replay's and highlights that Machida was the person dominating and dictating the game. Defending all his take downs at the same time hitting Davis with those accurate counter attacks.

On Machida's side he wanted a rematch and even obliged to go to a 5 round match. Since Machida has nothing to prove about this rematch since he won that last fight. But for him this rematch is about redemption and redeeming is name that he can defeat Davis at any cost.
